pushing to deliver high speed rail by 2017
- "Earlier this year I got an “absolute commitment” from Network Rail to extend the High-Speed rail line (HS1) from Ashford to Hastings. To secure this “absolute commitment” has taken a lot of work from many local groups and individuals.
This new line – being built in 2019 – will mean we can get from Hastings to London in 66 minutes, and from Rye it will be under an hour!
This will bring more business investment, more jobs and more prosperity to our local economy.
Now I want to secure this commitment and get them building sooner than 2019 – I want to the project forward by two years to 2017, and I need your help to achieve this.
Delivering HS1 forms a key part of my Vision2020 campaign. Over the past four years many great achievements have been fulfilled, but I believe that the future for Hastings and Rye is even brighter and stronger. My vision for 2020 sets out my priorities over the next five years and what I want to achieve.
If you support my campaign for HS1 coming to Hastings; if you, like me, believe in a stronger future for Hastings and Rye; and if you have a positive vision for the future of our communities, then please support my campaign to bring a stronger future to Hastings and Rye."
